Duke Wins Lucky 13th
Alana Beard scored nine of her 25 points during an 18-0 run as No. 5 Duke won its 13th consecutive women’s basketball game with an 81-54 victory over North Carolina State on Monday at Durham, N.C.
Duke (22-3, 14-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won 19 of 20 and can join 1995’s Virginia squad as the only ACC teams to finish 16-0. The Blue Devils play Florida State at home Thursday and are at North Carolina on Sunday.
Rachel Stockdale had 16 points for the Wolfpack (12-13, 6-8).

Montana State center Tom Duffy is leaving the team because of a lack of playing time, Coach Mick Durham announced. Duffy, a Seventh-Day Adventist, observes the Sabbath, meaning he could not play on Friday nights. He played in 17 of 24 games and said he did not receive the same opportunities as other players because of his religious commitment.... Oregon State junior Jimmie Haywood has left the men’s team because of personal reasons.
