Police Chase, Capture 5 Alleged Bank Robbers
Five suspected bank robbers were arrested Friday after a police chase through residential streets that resulted in the lock-down of three nearby schools, authorities said.
Three gunmen robbed the California Credit Union at 22200 Hawthorne Blvd. at 11:40 a.m. and fled, police said.
The suspects left their car and got into another near the 3700 block of 224th Street.
Police spotted and chased that car, and three of the now-five suspects got out and ran. One carried a rifle, police said.
Two other men drove a short distance and then ran into a yard.
All five men were found and arrested after police set up a perimeter around several neighborhoods, closing the schools.
