Endorsements for Hoffman and Parks in Supervisor’s Race

Share

It has been my pleasure to know Randy Hoffman since long before he threw his hat into the political ring.

Several years ago, he approached me with some ideas on how he could help us better enforce our narcotics laws with a technological assist from his company.

As I became more acquainted with him, it became apparent that he was the genuine article. He was very interested in all aspects of public safety in Ventura County. His support for narcotic law enforcement has never wavered.

Hoffman would bring much to the county Board of Supervisors. His strong family values, truly legendary business skills, leadership ability and willingness to find a way to get the job done are all desirable traits for a county supervisor.

As a former big-league manager for 26 years, I know how important it is to play fair and to observe the rules. And sometimes you have to tell a player to sit down and cool off if they are getting out of control.

I’ve lived in Thousand Oaks for 36 years, and I love this community.

I usually don’t get involved in political campaigns, but the other day I received a letter paid for by Randy Hoffman that was just plain false.

The letter accused [Thousand Oaks] Councilwoman Linda Parks of voting against adding police patrols in 1997. These are the facts: Parks supported adding more police--and voted to do so. She has always been a stalwart supporter of law enforcement. But she refused to vote to increase the sewer tax to further increase the public safety budget. She believes, and so do I, that the sewer fee should pay for the sewer--not for police.

Parks was right. It would have been a horrible precedent to increase user fees to pay for completely unrelated items. I applaud Parks’ courageous stand and I appreciate the fact that during her term of office she supported and approved a 20% increase in our police force.

I think without a doubt there have been some very unfair attacks on Parks.

Parks stands out for her exceptional efforts to preserve the quality of life of our community.

Hoffman doesn’t even come close to matching Parks’ record of service and leadership.

I ask you to join me in supporting and voting to make Parks our next county supervisor.
