Advisory Panel OKd for Conservation District
Ventura County supervisors Tuesday approved a 39-member panel to advise them on the types of property to be purchased should voters agree to create a land conservation district.
Committee members will be drawn from business, agriculture, environmental groups, cities and other public agencies. The Ventura County Agricultural Land Trust has chipped in $5,000 to keep meetings of the large group running smoothly.
Supervisors are expected to debate the goals of the proposed district in coming weeks. Voters are expected to weigh in on the land-preservation district on the March 2004 ballot.
