Ready for a little night music? Catch the enterprising Southwest Chamber Music ensemble as its 15th anniversary season continues with works by Debussy, Toru Takemitsu, Anthony Payne and Ravel; Saturday at the Norton Simon Museum, and on Tuesday at the Colburn School of Performing Arts’ Zipper Hall.

The Santa Anita Handicap, now in its 65th running, remains one of racing’s premier events for thoroughbreds ages 4 and older. The Big ‘Cap’s rich history and a $1-million purse share the spotlight at Santa Anita Park with 10 other races. Also on tap at the track is a Microbrew Festival in the infield. And for the kids, activities will include pony rides and face painting.

A window into 200 years of Latino art in the U.S. opens Saturday with “Arte Latino: Treasures From the Smithsonian American Art Museum,” a traveling historical survey at the Palm Springs Desert Museum. This is its only Southern California stop. The exhibition will include 66 paintings, sculptures and photographs by mostly Spanish-speaking artists who settled in America. Crossing the decades, the works range from an 18th century carved devotional crucifix to a 1967 painted mahogany altar by Chicano artist Emanuel Martinez.

If your tea’s gone cold and you’re wondering why you got out of bed at all ... consider Deep Dish, the house DJ duo Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi. Their “Moscow” Global Underground set, which includes their Grammy-nominated remix of Dido’s “Thank You,” will be the heart of the night.

Theater League, a Kansas City, Mo.-based organization that brings touring musicals to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, will stage a 50th anniversary production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s, “The King and I.” Debby Boone stars as Anna Leonowens, the British widow who became a governess in the court of the King of Siam in the 1860s.
