Large Bush Fire Heading for Homes in Suburbs
From Times Wire Reports
A large bush fire broke out in parkland in the northern suburbs of Australia’s biggest city, Sydney, burning on a wide front and moving toward homes, officials said.
Sydney had been ringed by bush fires to its north, south and west for more than a week, but today’s outbreak in Pennant Hills in the city’s bushy northern area was the first to penetrate the suburbs.
A fire service spokesman said the blaze was less than 12 miles from the city center.
