Badge, Flashing Light Lead to Genuine Jail
A man was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer after authorities saw him with a flashing yellow light on the roof of his Toyota Celica.
Jesus Delcarmen Delgado Sanchez, 46, was wearing one of the blue plastic Costa Mesa police badges that the department gives away and was talking to a woman on Anaheim Street about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when a police officer on patrol saw him and stopped.
Costa Mesa Police Lt. Dale Birney said Sanchez fled but was caught. The suspect was wearing the plastic badge and a shirt with a fire department patch.
