L.A. Sexiest Night Spots

Share

Sex and night life go together like J. Lo and Daisy Dukes: They’re an ideal fit. When a nightclub’s design principals are aimed to stimulate the libido, you can bet there’s a line outside and a doorman getting tips--the main objectives of most clubs. For a sexy, sumptuous taste of postmodern L.A., look no farther than the following hot spots:

*

A.D. (836 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood, [323] 460-6630). There are dungeons, ruins and a bit of monastic monkey business. Is it getting hot in here, or is that just Barbarella getting whipped in the prison?

Bar Marmont (8171 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, [323] 650-0575). There’s magic at Bar Marmont, plain and simple. What looks like a trashy exterior from afar is brilliant upon closer scrutiny--an Asia-meets-South Pacific squeeze of whimsical elegance.

Belly (7929 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, [323] 692-1068). Visualize how it would feel to be inside “Jeannie’s” crib. Now, add too-cute industry players and a clever tapas menu and you’ve got Belly, a favorite setting for creating tummy butterflies.

Conga Room (5364 Wilshire Blvd., L.A., [323] 938-1696). Propelled by its extreme colors and wildly tropical sensibilities, the Conga Room is as close to a sexy Miami nightclub as you’ll find in L.A. It’s loud, proud and all fired up.

Deep (1707 N. Vine St., Hollywood, [323] 462-1144). Banking on Hollywood’s insatiable appetite for skimpy clothing and dance floor “bump ‘n’ grind,” Deep smartly combines the two. Skimpily clothed dancers bump ‘n’ grind in glass cases, strategically located throughout Deep’s Euro-trash glam environs. Say “cheese.”

Garden of Eden (7080 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, [323] 465-3336). This naughty nightclub emerged a few years back with a she-devil-may-care attitude, merging Casablanca-era glamour with overt sexual design. Think female anatomy as dance floor sculpture.

Key Club (9039 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, [310] 274-5800). The Sunset Strip music joint banked on rock’s big comeback by opting for a very “metal” design. Now that rock ‘n’ roll is sexy again, the metallic Key Club’s the place with an appetite for destruction.

Lucky Duck (672. S. La Brea Ave., L.A., [323] 931-9660). The sexiest thing about Lucky Duck is its understated elegance. Wherever you look in the new Chinese bistro, things seem perfectly in balance. Its winning merger of retro sensibilities and sublime modernism make it simply ducky.
