L.A. Groups Receive Grants for Housing
The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco announced that 13 Los Angeles-based nonprofit organizations will receive grants to help fund affordable-housing projects.
Nationwide, more than $36 million will go to 124 housing programs for low- and moderate-income renters and home buyers.
The majority of the funds from this year’s grants will be used to help create about 6,810 rental units.
The Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program is a competitive grant program that since 1990 has helped build 52,000 rental and owner-occupied housing units in Nevada, California, Arizona and other participating states.
Among the local recipients of this year’s AHP grants are Hermandad Los Angeles Economic and Community Development, Project New Hope, West Hollywood Housing Corp., San Gabriel Habitat for Humanity and Figueroa Economical Housing Development Corp.
