Preserve Photographs for Future Generations

Regarding “Family Flashback” (Dec. 25): Light is the enemy of photographs, so hang copies and carefully store the originals to preserve them for future generations.

Be sure to use archival-quality materials and boxes when storing the originals.

Remember to identify the people in the photos.

I put two windows in the mats on my framed family photos: one large window for the photo and another small one for the subjects’ names and the year.
