From Times Wire Reports

A 93-year-old Bakersfield woman died after being run over and injured by her own car.

A witness told police that Phyllis Zink was backing out of her garage at 2:30 p.m. when she fell out of the 1955 Mercury Montclair.

Police believe Zink had put the car’s transmission in gear and was tossed out and run over as it moved forward. Witnesses said the car went in circles in her driveway.

Neighbor Jamie Huggins said she saw the car up against a curb, with Zink pinned on the pavement.

Bakersfield firefighters used air jacks to hoist the car and free her, Police Sgt. Mark Grimm said. Paramedics took Zink to Kern Medical Center, where she died.
