Dixon, Baxter Lift No. 3 Maryland

Juan Dixon scored 23 points and Lonny Baxter had 21, and No. 3 Maryland defeated Clemson, 99-90, Sunday at College Park, Md. The Terrapins are 14-3 overall and 4-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Dixon made four three-point baskets to become Maryland’s career leader with 189.

Tony Stockman scored 22 points for Clemson (11-8, 2-4).

No. 10 Virginia 91, Florida State 74--Chris Williams scored 24 points and the Cavaliers (12-2, 3-2 ACC) were hardly challenged at Charlottesville, Va.

Virginia scored 32 points in the final 6:38 of the first half and Florida State (9-7, 2-3) never recovered.

No. 22 Boston College 77, Virginia Tech 68--Ryan Sidney had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles (14-4, 3-3 Big East) at Boston.

Kenny Walls and Troy Bell each had 17 points for Boston College, which had lost its previous three home games.

Bryant Matthews scored 19 points for Virginia Tech (6-12, 0-6).
