Tennessee Loses Slay
Tennessee starting forward Ron Slay will sit out the rest of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Slay, a 6-foot-8 junior, had an MRI exam Monday that confirmed the extent of the injury. A date for surgery has not been set.
Slay was hurt when he bumped knees with a Syracuse player Saturday.
Slay sat out the team’s first two games because of a stress fracture in his right leg.
He averaged 14.8 points and 6.5 rebounds.
