Man Charged in Slaying of Boy Doing Homework
Prosecutors charged a suspected gang member Tuesday with murdering a 13-year-old boy while the victim was doing his homework at St. Andrews Park Recreation Center in South Los Angeles.
Authorities said Zaire Paul Dennis, 21, of Los Angeles and another man entered the center in November and opened fire, killing Marquese Rashad Prude. The second suspect, Ronnie Winfield, 18, of Los Angeles was later killed in a gang shooting, police said.
Authorities said Prude had no gang affiliations, and they suspect that he was shot because he was the first person the assailants saw.
