No Bluffing Them Anymore
Arkansas Pine Bluff can blame JaJa Bey for its misery.
Bey’s 20 points led Long Island to an 80-64 victory against St. Francis (Pa.). It was Long Island’s first this season after 16 losses.
That leaves Arkansas Pine Bluff--an 84-72 loser to Grambling State on Saturday--as the only one of 324 Division I teams still winless.
The Golden Lions have lost their first 18 in 2001-02 and 24 consecutive overall. Last season they were 3-25.
Earlier this season, Pine Bluff lost to Gonzaga by 50 points and to Marquette by 51.
The closest they’ve come to winning is a 66-61 loss to Southern. The rematch is Feb. 9, but it’s on the road.
So it reasons that the chance for a “perfect” season is real ... no bluffing.
