Police Shoot Man Who Held Gun on His Wife
Police shot and wounded a man holding his estranged wife at gunpoint on a San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge overpass Wednesday, ending a situation that forced officials to close most of the freeways approaching from the east. The closures caused a huge morning rush-hour traffic jam.
Investigators said the situation began Tuesday when Clay Cael, 48, kidnapped his estranged wife from a house in San Francisco. Police went to Cael’s home and found an 85-year-old woman shot to death. Police said Cael will be charged with murder and kidnapping.
