Authorities Searching for Plane Stolen From Camarillo Airport
Local and federal law enforcement authorities were searching Thursday for a small plane stolen from a Camarillo Airport runway.
The 1971 Cessna 182, white with a green stripe along its side, was stolen between Monday and Wednesday afternoon, Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Wade said.
The theft was reported to the Federal Aviation Administration and FBI, which sent alerts to airports nationwide, sheriff’s spokesman Eric Nishimoto said.
Authorities have no reason to believe the theft is linked to terrorism, Wade said. “The heightened awareness about it comes from the current environment we’re living in,” he said. Anyone with information is urged to call sheriff’s officials at 654-2311.
