Rare River Dolphin Dies of Old Age at 25
From Times Wire Reports
The only Yangtze River dolphin in captivity has died of old age after a life span that “was the equivalent of a 70-year-old man,” a conservation institute said.
The 25-year-old male, named Qi Qi, died Sunday, said the official at the Wuhan Institute of Hydrobiology, where the animal spent 22 years. Fewer than 100 of the dolphins are believed to exist in their only natural habitat, the lower half of central China’s increasingly busy and polluted Yangtze River.
