Firefighter Injured in Blaze at Shoe Plant

A fire at a shoe manufacturing plant burned for more than five hours Monday, injuring one firefighter.
The fire started about 10:30 a.m. at VP Footwear on Rush Street at an outdoor storage area full of plastic. Three other businesses were slightly damaged.
The firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation after falling debris knocked off his oxygen mask.
