Matchup: Texas General Manager John Hart, celebrated for his performance in building a perennial contender in Cleveland, is being roasted for his performance in his first year with the Rangers--by fans, the media and by himself. Said Hart: “It’s been a joke watching us play. That’s my responsibility.” All-Star catcher Ivan Rodriguez, out since April 15 because of a back injury, is expected to rejoin the last-place team shortly.

Opponent: Cincinnati Reds

Series: Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 1 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m.

Site: Edison Field.

Matchup: The Angels never did figure out how to juggle four outfielders when they had Garret Anderson, Jim Edmonds, Darin Erstad and Tim Salmon. That’s the dilemma now before Red Manager Bob Boone, with Ken Griffey coming off the disabled list and into the outfield that led the Reds into first place: young standouts Adam Dunn and Austin Kearns and Detroit-washout-turned-Cincinnati-star Juan Encarnacion.
