A Glendale man was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his adult son before apparently trying to kill himself, police said Monday.

Sang Nam Chang, 50, is suspected of attacking his son, Young Wha Chang, 22, and then turning a knife on himself, said Sgt. Kurt Palmer, a Glendale police spokesman.

Palmer said police were dispatched to the 400 block of Kenwood Street shortly after 12 a.m. Saturday.

Officers found the younger man lying in the living room of the apartment with knife wounds to the upper body, Palmer said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Palmer said officers found the victim’s father in a bedroom with knife wounds to the chest, neck and arms. The weapon, described as a 6-inch kitchen knife, was found in the father’s possession, Palmer said.

The father was listed in stable condition at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Authorities said that the son worked on odd jobs at Los Angeles hotels.
