Fire broke out in a boarding school dormitory in southwestern China, killing eight boys ages 7 to 13, local officials said.
The fire broke out late Sunday at a school in Yangjie, a town near the city of Kunming in Yunnan province, a town official said.
An officer at county police headquarters said authorities suspected that a faulty power cable caused the fire, which took three hours to extinguish and destroyed four classrooms and seven other school buildings.
