* The number of millionaires in the world rose at the slowest pace in at least 16 years in 2001, according to a survey by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and Merrill Lynch & Co. The number of millionaires rose by 2.9% to 7.1 million, the smallest increase since the two companies began compiling data in 1986.

* Williams Cos., a natural gas pipeline company and energy trader, said it exported an unspecified amount of electricity from California during 2000 and 2001, a period of high prices being investigated by federal regulators. The company was responding to a June 4 order from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

* Huffy Corp., maker of bicycles and basketball backboards, said it agreed to acquire Canadian sporting goods company Gen-X Sports Inc. for $19 million plus 5 million shares to expand its offerings.
