Get the drive-in experience without the cars at Universal CityWalk’s Drive-In Movies Series. Tonight’s feature is “Grease,” shown on the 18-by-22-foot outdoor screen. Universal has taken its cue from the Laker fans who flocked to CityWalk to watch the NBA Championships on the big screen. Through July 25, “West Side Story,” “Footloose” and “Dirty Dancing” will be shown on successive Thursdays. Bring your beach blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the movie and live dancers who will re-create musical scenes from the movie, while roller-skating “car hops” move through crowd selling soda, popcorn, hot dogs and pretzels.

L.A.-born upright bassist Scott Colley is one of jazz’s most in-demand sidemen. Although not yet 40 years old, he has performed on more than 100 CDs. He relocated to New York in 1988 after graduating from CalArts, where he studied privately with his idol, Grammy-winning bassist Charlie Haden. Colley just released his fifth solo CD, “Initial Wisdom,” which features him with Ravi Coltrane on tenor sax, Adam Rodgers on guitar and Bill Stewart on drums--the same lineup that’s with him at the Jazz Bakery tonight through Sunday.

Valerie Harper, Tony Roberts and Michele Lee reprise their Broadway roles in “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife.” The new comedy by Charles Busch (who created the romps “Psycho Beach Party” and “Vampire Lesbians of Sodom”) is about a culture-obsessed, upper-middle-class woman married to a successful New York allergist, whose midlife crisis deepens when her glamorous childhood friend appears for a mysterious visit.

Noche Flamenca, known for preserving the flamenco tradition of pure personal expression, will make its only California appearance this week in Founders Hall at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. The smaller hall at the center was picked to give audiences the kind of up-close experience of flamenco they would get in intimate Spanish nightclubs. One of the leading flamenco companies in Spain, Noche Flamenca was founded in 1993 by artistic director Martin Santangelo and his wife, Soledad Barrio, one of the troupe’s most acclaimed dancers. The program will consist only of solos and duets, with unamplified guitars, voice and the clapping of palms.
