An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 shook the Mt. Hood area, but no damage was immediately reported.

The quake hit at 7:36 a.m. about three miles south of the summit of Mt. Hood and about four miles deep, said Bill Steele of the University of Washington’s Pacific Northwest Seismographic Network.

Mt. Hood is an active volcano, but the quake did not signal any eruption, he said.
