DC Comics Sues Wella Over Use of Kryptonite
Superman will be weakened and suffer irreparably if a hair company is allowed to keep marketing a green hair gel called Kryptonite, the superhero’s creator claims.
DC Comics hit Wella, maker of the new hair product, with a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, N.Y., to try to stop the company from using the name to market the hair product.
The comics company asked for unspecified damages as it alleged that the gel’s name infringes on the name created to describe an element from Superman’s home planet, Krypton, that weakens the hero.
A Wella spokeswoman said the company would not comment on the lawsuit.
