Please, Don’t Give NCAA Any Ideas

March Madness should be scrapped. What good is a tournament that brings in a zillion dollars and determines a national champion?

A better system would be half the nation’s Division I teams playing 75 one-game exhibitions at the largest arenas across the country. Each game could be sponsored by a corporation and preceded by a parade. They could be called “cups.” Imagine the income drawn from 150 universities partaking in one last game for the fun of it. Texas Tech could play UCLA in the Enron Cup, for example.

Of course, the first 74 games played would be meaningless. A computer can determine two teams to play one final game for the “championship.”
