Local Students Win College TV Awards

Several Southland students have won first-place prizes in the 23rd annual College Television Awards, sponsored by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Winners include Jennifer Derwingson of USC for best comedy (“Roadside Assistance”), Hilda Mercado and Alberto Gonzalez-Reyna of AFI for best drama (“A Piece of Earth”), Brooke Keesling of Cal Arts for traditional animation (“Boobie Girl”) and Eric Anderson of USC for non-traditional animation (“Horses on Mars”).

Winners will be honored at a ceremony at the St. Regis Hotel on Sunday, and their work will be shown Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Goldenson Theater in North Hollywood. The latter event is open to the public. (818) 754-2838.
