Alfredo Goyeneche, 63; President of Spanish Olympic Committee

Alfredo Goyeneche, 63, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, died Saturday when the car he was traveling in careered off the highway in heavy rain 30 miles north of Madrid, the national news agency Efe reported.
Another passenger, Antonio Bustillo, the Spanish Olympic Committee’s press director, was injured. The driver was not hurt.
Goyeneche, a member of the International Olympic Committee since 2000, took over the Spanish Olympic Committee in 1998 after the death of predecessor Carlos Ferrer Salat from a heart attack.
