The Things You See on the Town

Still catching my breath from Flogging Molly’s sold-out, three-night run at the Troubadour last week. Man, last time there was so much excitement about a band with so much soul, Ozomatli was in the house....Wiggled my way into the Lounge on Thursday and watched actor David Alan Grier roll in with a bevy of babes....Speaking of babes, ex-Otep members and the former drummer of Godhead just debuted their new band, Awkward, at the Viper Room. By the sounds of it, they’re anything but.... I’m gonna roll on down to the Palms Casino in Vegas for a triple-header by Royal Crown Revue, which is playing at the new casino on March 28-30....”Bowl A Rama” is set for April 6 at the All Star Lanes in Eagle Rock, with performances by Mr. Bad Wrench, Luck of the Draw, Crank Williams and the Deadbillies.

Had a lovely dinner last week at Moomba, a favorite spot for L.A.’s power brokers. Chanced upon that gorgeous dame Cameron Diaz at the Parlour hair salon in WeHo. She’s even hotter without makeup. Speaking of hot dames, ran into Minnie Driver at the Goodform beauty parlor in Hollywood.... Had the good fortune of meeting artist Gris Grimly at the Shamrock Social Club. Grimly illustrated my son’s favorite book, “Monster Museum.”

The Troub’ says Autolux and Ima Robot are playing April 1. Ima be there for sure.... Crashed Tuesday night’s opening party for Royal Order nightclub owner Cheryl Rixon-Davis’ new Melrose Avenue boutique.... The Sunset Room’s Brad Johnson tells me his latest adventure, Menemsha (named after the fishing village he grew up in on Martha’s Vineyard), opens Memorial Day weekend in Marina del Rey. Sweet.
