Tracy McGrady was released from the hospital Saturday, one day after leaving a game on a stretcher with an injured back.

The Orlando Magic’s star guard will not travel to Milwaukee for today’s game, team spokesman Joel Glass said.

McGrady was resting after leaving Florida Hospital and is listed as day to day, the team said.

“His return will depend on how he responds to therapy and his treatment,” Glass said.

McGrady injured his back in the second quarter against Charlotte on Friday night. He drove the lane and was sandwiched between the Hornets’ Robert Traylor and George Lynch. He appeared to land awkwardly, and collapsed face-down under the basket.

Allen Iverson’s left hand is in a splint and soft cast, and the Philadelphia 76ers’ postseason hopes suddenly are looking grim.

The league’s most valuable player is through for the rest of the regular season. Doctors said he is out for four to six weeks, and Coach Larry Brown thinks fans shouldn’t expect him back sooner.

“He’s a great player. He’s what this team is about.... We have to get his hand healed,” Brown said after practice Saturday. “I think if it were up to him, he’d be back tomorrow.”

Iverson, who led the NBA in minutes, steals and scoring, with 31.5 points a game, was not available Saturday.

He broke a bone in his nonshooting hand during Friday night’s victory over Boston. He was to have the splint replaced with a hard cast this weekend.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim missed the Atlanta Hawks’ game against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night because he was in Berkeley for the birth of his son.

Abdur-Rahim’s wife, DeeDee, gave birth to Jabri Shareef Abdur-Rahim early Saturday.

Abdur-Rahim was planning to join the Hawks for tonight’s game at New Jersey.
