City Seeks to Block Sale of Cable TV System

City officials said they will seek an injunction in federal court to block the sale of Verizon’s Americast cable system to cable giant Adelphia.
They have argued that the sale would unfairly end local competition and hurt cable subscribers.
The city was to argue for the injunction in Ventura County Superior Court on Thursday, but Adelphia blocked that effort, filing a motion to force the argument to be heard in a federal court.
