2 Boys Arrested After 1 Brings Gun to School

Two boys were arrested Tuesday after police said one of them took a pistol and about 15 cartridges to their Rancho Santa Margarita high school.

One boy, 15, said he hid the pistol in his backpack and brought it to Tesoro High because he feared that other students meant to harm him, authorities said. When word of the gun spread and other students told the principal, the boy passed the weapon to a friend, 16, who hid it in his own backpack, authorities said. School officials found the gun and called police.

The boys were taken to Juvenile Hall in Orange.
