Slam Dunk

I wish Jerry West all the best in his new job (May 1). As Lakers fans, we owe our Los Angeles success to him. Purple flowed through his veins and gold came off his brow when he was “Mr. Clutch.” Later, he drafted and traded for the players who gave us Showtime and, now, the dynamic duo of Shaq and Kobe.

Thank you, Jerry West, for all you have done for basketball in L.A. You deserve a standing ovation the next time you set foot into Staples Center and every time Shaq and Kobe win another championship.
