Las Palmas Will Celebrate Six Sultry Years of the Monday Social

Whoever said there ain’t no cure for the summertime blues didn’t get out much. Hollywood’s looking heat-wave hot right about now, and here’s why: The trendy Las Palmas nightclub’s hosting a mega-bash on Memorial Day. The promoting duo the Bud Brothers will celebrate the sixth anniversary of their Monday Social, the main artery of L.A.’s dance music scene. The night’s musical messiahs include Genaside II, Q-Burns and Abstract Message.

The Parlour Club on Santa Monica Boulevard just launched “Sockit,” a global electronica night every second Tuesday of the month.... Speaking of Tuesdays, Christina Carey and Ian Grieve throw Dirty every Tuesday at the Room in Hollywood, a back-alley bar off Cahuenga Boulevard. The raucous rock party is Tuesday’s hottest H-wood hap’.

Promoter Brent Bolthouse, who turned me on to Ozomatli in ‘96, says Postcards is the new hot band. He hasn’t steered me wrong yet.... Speaking of hot bands, Mad at Gravity performs on Monday at the Troubadour.... Hottie Dennis Quaid is back at Moomba on Wednesdays. If you haven’t treated yourself to his band, you’re silly. It’s loads of fun and waaay L.A.

Happy news for Valley hipsters (once an oxymoron): The new supper club Platinum Live makes a splashy debut on June 7. And speaking of splashy debuts, Overstreet’s Wine Merchant and Wine Bar opens in Newport Beach on Friday with a performance by jazz great Jack Sheldon.

For those with a travel budget: The hot L.A. band Deadsy kicks off its tour with Korn and Puddle of Mudd in Pennsylvania on June 20. ... Joey Ramones’ fans are invited to celebrate his birthday at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on Saturday. L.A.’s own Coyote Shivers is headlining at the request of Ramone’s mother, Charlotte.
