The Ottawa Senators, eliminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Eastern Conference semifinals this week, extended the contract of Coach Jacques Martin for another season, through 2003-04.

The Senators also announced Friday that team President and Chief Executive Roy Mlakar has signed a five-year contract and Marshall Johnston has decided not to return as general manager.

“I feel very fortunate to be able to continue to try to bring a Stanley Cup to Ottawa,” Martin, the third-longest serving coach in the league, said at a news conference at the Corel Centre.
