Carjacked SUV Fleeing Police Hits Restaurant
A carjacked Ford Expedition fleeing from police slammed into a restaurant Saturday morning, killing a male passenger and leaving the female driver brain dead, authorities said.
A 16-year-old girl in the SUV was hospitalized with minor injuries, said Sheriff’s Lt. Bret Parker.
No one was reported injured at Johnny Reb’s restaurant, on Bellflower Boulevard at Flower Street, which was closed at the time of the 6:20 a.m. crash, authorities said.
The SUV had been carjacked early Saturday morning in South-Central Los Angeles, said Lt. Marty Cotwright of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police were investigating whether the man who died and the woman who was critically injured--both 18 to 25 years old--committed the carjacking.
