Man Drowns After Driving Car Into Lake
From Times Staff Reports
A man drowned early Saturday after driving his car into Echo Park Lake, authorities said.
The man, who has not been identified, drove into the lake north of downtown just after 1 a.m., police said. Witnesses called police after watching the car plunge into the water and hearing a man yell that he couldn’t swim.
Divers recovered the body, and the car was towed out. Police have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
