Angelenos Can ‘Meet the Mayor’
Mayor James K. Hahn is inviting the residents of Los Angeles to swing by for a chat, one on one.
Hahn announced Thursday that he will hold monthly office hours during which 20 people will be randomly selected to sit down with him for individual 10-minute talks.
“It will be about whatever anyone wants to talk about,” Hahn said during an appearance Thursday morning on the Spanish-language radio station KLVE-FM.
“Meet the Mayor” days are part of what Hahn called his effort to make city residents feel more connected to local government. He already appears on a monthly radio call-in show, “Ask the Mayor,” on KFWB-AM (980), and he will begin doing the same format in Spanish on KLVE-FM (107.5) with a bilingual aide on hand to translate.
But residents will be able to sit down with him in person during the “Meet the Mayor” days.
The first session will be held June 13 at Van Nuys City Hall from 4 to 8 p.m. The deadline to sign up for the first round of meetings is June 7 at 5 p.m.
Those interested in meeting with Hahn can sign up over the Internet at www.lacity.org/mayor or fill out a form available at the mayor’s City Hall office and five field offices throughout the city.
Twenty people will be picked, and representatives from his office will be available to talk with those who are not selected.
