From Times Wire Reports

Two more elk and a deer have tested positive for chronic wasting disease, boosting the total of infected animals found this hunting season to 37.

Hunters have submitted about 8,000 animals for testing since late summer, and results have been recorded on about 3,000 animals.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is banking on the testing to help determine the prevalence of chronic wasting disease, a fatal brain illness in the same family as “mad cow” disease.
