CHP Checking Officers for Abuse of Authority
From Times Wire Reports
The California Highway Patrol is investigating some of its own officers for allegedly abusing their authority.
Officials are looking into whether a captain ordered two uniformed officers to divert traffic around a wedding at his Bakersfield home, the Bakersfield Californian reported. Another incident involves the alleged cover-up of a crash involving a Mercedes-Benz that was borrowed for a parade.
The probe is focused on fewer than five supervisors in Bakersfield and Fresno, said CHP Commissioner Spike Helmick.
