Action Is Returning to the Streets of L.A.

Filming on Los Angeles streets jumped 37.7% in October from a year earlier, further evidence of a continuing rebound in Southern California production after the drought caused by Hollywood’s labor uncertainties last year.
Permit numbers released by the Entertainment Industry Development Corp. show that the number of production days jumped to 2,612 last month from 1,897 in October 2001.
Film production days showed the biggest increase, more than doubling to 835, with TV production rising a healthy 30.8% to 1,231. Days shooting commercials increased 13.1%, to 440, with the number of music video days falling.
