Fire Kills Cats, Causes $300,000 in Damage

A house fire killed two cats and caused $300,000 in damage Friday night, authorities said Saturday.
The blaze broke out about 9:15 p.m. in the living room of a home in the 800 block of Olympia Avenue in east Ventura, authorities said. A couple inside the residence fled to safety after hearing the smoke alarm go off and seeing flames.
