Red Hot Blitzer Goes for Fourth in a Row

Share

After losing his first four races, two at 11-10 odds, Red Hot Blitzer is on a roll.

The 2-year-old gelded son of Red Hot Rhythm has won three in a row and will try to keep the streak alive in tonight’s $35,000 Corona Chick Handicap, to be run at 400 yards.

Red Hot Blitzer, owned by Evelyn Stark and trained by Paul Jones, hasn’t lost since Aug. 1. He broke his maiden on Aug. 25, then won two allowance races and now will try to stretch his speed over an additional 50 yards.

Red Hot Blitzer will carry co-high weight of 125 pounds, as will Special Cartel, a recent stakes winner at Lone Star Park for co-owner and trainer Jose Antonio Flores. Dennis Means will ride the gelded son of Corona Cartel, who broke his maiden in his first start April 11 at Los Alamitos.
