KEYS TO THE GAME
Gary Klein’s keys to the game, and how the Trojans measured up:
1. Prevent the big play. Shaun McDonald scored on a 24-yard touchdown pass for Arizona State, but the Trojans kept quarterback Andrew Walter largely in check. Walter’s longest completion covered 27 yards and the Sun Devils’ longest run was 12.
2. Contain Terrell Suggs. Junior tackle Jacob Rogers and freshman tackle Winston Justice neutralized the nation’s sack leader, who finished with six tackles and was credited with half a sack.
3. Avoid looking ahead. USC committed no turnovers and created some when it needed to. Throughout the week, the Trojans repeated that they would not start thinking about UCLA until the Sun Devils were defeated. Now, it’s hello, Bruins.
