Trainer Julio Canani has had a lot of success with turf runners from Europe and he may have another star in the making in Adalgisa.
Owned by a partnership, the 3-year-old daughter of 1997 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Spinning World has won two of three since arriving in the U.S. this year.
Adalgisa will try for another victory in today’s seventh at Hollywood Park, a $49,000 optional claimer at one mile on the grass.
Race of the day: Bush Triumph will try for her fifth victory in a row in today’s fifth at Hollywood Park, a $49,000 optional claimer at a mile on the grass.
Who’s hot: Michael Hushion. The New York-bred trainer won with five of his first 14 starters at Aqueduct.
Who’s not: George Leonard. The trainer, who is racing at Hoosier Park, has won with nine of 206 starters in 2002.
Exotically speaking: A pick four using Dynamistic and Bush Triumph in the fifth, Jade Fox, Shellys Terms and Shezaseaheroine in the sixth, singling Adalgisa in the seventh and using Giant Clam Soup, Pruney, Fabulous Crown, Daring Bert and Abarouge in the eighth.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/20. Money: Previous day/meet total: $24.80/$105.20. Total money bet: $182.
