Construction Worker Killed in Vat of Sand
From Times Staff Reports
One worker died Monday and another was pulled to safety after both were trapped in a large container filled with building materials at a cinderblock manufacturer in Orange, a Fire Department spokesman said.
Jose Ramirez, 37, of Anaheim was buried in 45 feet of material, mostly sand, a coroner’s official said.
The survivor, who was trying to rescue Ramirez, was pulled to safety and “appears to be doing well,” a fire official said.
