Competitor Dies In Swim Leg of Triathlon

A participant in the Santa Cruz Sentinel Triathlon died Sunday, the first fatality in the contest’s 20-year history.
The 52-year-old Santa Cruz man, whose name was not immediately released, was found unconscious in the chilly water near the municipal pier.
