Wednesday: A forum for Thousand Oaks City Council candidates running for four-year seats will begin at 7 p.m., and a forum for those running for the two-year seat will begin at 9:15 p.m. The event, at Los Robles Banquet Center at 299 S. Thursday: The League of Women Voters is sponsoring an Oxnard City Council candidates forum, which will be televised on Adelphia cable Channel 10 (east county) and Channel 17 (west county) at 7:30 p.m. It will be televised again Oct. 17 and Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday: A panel of public officials and activists will present arguments against Measure A, the November ballot initiative that proposes building 1,390 homes on Ventura’s hillsides. The meeting of Ventura Citizens for Hillside Preservation will begin at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish, 3290 Loma Vista Road.
