Police Shoot Man After Chase
A man was shot by Los Angeles Police Department officers after leading them on a chase from South Los Angeles to a cul-de-sac in Hacienda Heights. The man apparently lunged at officers with a glass candelabra, Lt. Horace Frank said.
Officers saw the man driving erratically near 115th Street and Compton Avenue and chased him after he didn’t stop. Frank said officers shot the man with a beanbag first, then fired several rounds after he lunged toward them.
The unidentified man was in the hospital Saturday night in serious condition, Frank said.
